As you read about Kelowna Christian Preschool, we invite you to imagine what it is like to be a preschool child. The world looks enormous, and yet with the security of unconditional love and belonging, a child is able to step out and explore all that is around him/her.
It is intriguing and beautiful, and each intricate detail is fascinating and worth taking time to investigate. Questions flood the young mind as he/she strives to make sense of what is seen, touched, smelled, heard or tasted.
Thus, the mission begins, as the child seeks to find answers to questions, looking for clues and patterns that are related to what has already been discovered. |

Betty Cleland - Director and Early Childhood Educator
Betty began her training at the University of Saskatchewan and later continued at Okanagan University College, following her family’s move to Kelowna. Upon graduation she was honored with the President’s Award and Graduate Scholarship for academic achievement. Believing in the value of being a life long learner to further enhance her professional ability, Betty is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care.
Betty’s passion and commitment to enhance the quality of early childhood development extends beyond the walls of the preschool to the community. Within the Kelowna Childcare Committee, Okanagan University College Early Childhood Education Program Advisory Committee, Preschool Partnerships Sub-Committee, and Provincial Childcare Council, Betty’s purpose has been to partner with colleagues to design programs, discuss current issues in childcare, advise policymakers, and advocate in the best interests of children and their families. She is committed to making a difference in enriching children’s lives within our community.
